Something I Hope to Learn This Year

This year I hope to learn anything I can that is computer related, that will get me prepared for my major in Computer Science. I hope to have a better understanding in Calculus and learn some new painting techniques.

My reaction to the video above, is normal. That's how society sees things and people, even if they won't admit it. Everyone has preceptions about a person or a race, either from experiences or things that they have heard from others. It's not right, but that is the poisoned mind of society. There are people in a race that do live up to the negative preceptions people have. There are people who do all the wrong things and give a bad image for everyone else who is nothing like them, but still belong to the race. There are people in a race who try to rise above the negative preceptions of others, they try to do the opposite of the preceptions.

And maybe people who are victims of those negative preceptions only act in a negative way because of the way society treats them. They can be different people, but when society is putting them down, then there seems to be no point in changing anything they do. Instead of being victim to teasing, or anything like that,  they choose to rebel and give themselves an even worse appearnce, to show that they can't be messed with.
Everything is inner-connected, the negative preceptions of society are caused by the actions of a group; the actions of a group are caused by the negative preceptions of society. Everyone has these preceptions even if they won't admit it, you just have to get to know some one before you judge, which is what we have been taught since we were little, but never thought very much about it.

First Grading Period Experience

Feeling pretty good about the first grading period. My grades are doing pretty well, considering they're mainly AP. As the year goes on I get more stressed out about college, I don't know where to apply, except for one school. I know I'm almost gauranteed acceptance because of my grades, but it also depends on what my parents think...college 5,000 miles away isn't very appealing to most parents...yea just mainly stress about college and finishing this year off strong are the biggest problems I have.

SWOT Analysis

My method of studying.
Depends on what I am studying.

• When I read, study vocab, or read in French, it has to be absolutely quiet, or close to quiet, so that I can concentrate.

S: Comprehend things more, better concentration

W: My mind tends to wander when it's quiet.

O: can understand things better, than when there is noise.

T: Can spend all night in my room, and not get to see my family at all.

• When I am doing Calculus problems, Microeconomics problems, or painting, I have to have music on, or the TV on.

S: My mind thinks more creativly with the math problems, making it easier to solve a problem

W: Can get wrapped up in watching TV, or singing to the music, and forgetting about the homework.

O: Can have more fun with the studying because I'll dance while trying to figure out what the derivative of Tan(x)ln(x) is.

T: Makes homework take a longer time, or I don't put as much effort into it.

Regardless, I have to be alone when I am studying, otherwise I can't concetrate. When people try to talk to me I lose my train of thought, especially in French or Math where you have to be in a different mind set.

Do you think arts/sports programs should be the first to go when school budgets are cut?

School Research Paper

     I chose the topic "arts programs being eliminated from schools." I chose this topic because I love at class. I'm very artistic and love to draw or paint. This year I had no art classes in my schedule, so I dropped a class just to have painting for the year. Art class is important in the school system because it allows students to be creative and relax. Instead of working on a math problem that hurts their heads, they can paint a flower and just relax. Students who can't express themselves through words, should have the oppurtunity to do it through some form of art, whether is be painting, drawing, ceramics, or sculpturing(if that's a word).

• I like all the different things you can do on the site, and the fact that it's free.
• I use the site mainly to talk to people who are really far away...like Europe.
• I would make the video chat feature,that has been added to chat box, a lot better quality.
• Pros: you can make your profile as private as you want. You can share information with some people and not with others.
• Cons: The site changes too often, it's hard to get to some of the feature(like the games).
•  competitor site is Myspace, which I used to use, but just recently deleted my profile.

2. gmail.com

• I like all the different programs it has on it.(google Docs, Translate, Maps, etc.)
• Having a browser homepage and being able to customize it anyway I want, being able to access all my documents from any computer, if they're on the site.
• I use this site for email, doing papers, watching videos with the youtube app on the homepage.
• I would make this site have fewer features. There are sub catigories for sub catigories, it gets confusing when you're searching for a program, but can't find the exact one, since there are so many different options.
• Pros: easily accesible, very organized, customizable
• Cons: Way too many options for just one program
• A competitor would be Hotmail.com, Aol.com, Yahoo.com; which I use, but only for email purposes.

3. Youtube.com

• I like that you can find just about any type of video on this site.
• I use the site to watch music videos, or Vlogs by JennaMarbles and HelloKymmy
• I think the site should restrict the videos a little more, because some of those videos are crazy.
• Pros: people can post their own videos, it does have a parental control on it for some videos
• Cons: some video search results you get are completely unrelated to your search
• Megavideo.com is a competitor

4. Mylifetime.com

• I can catch up on any shows i may have missed, like Project Runway.
• To watch shows I missed, or watch any movies they have listed.
• I would make it so videos of missed shows were added sooner than 7 days.
• Pros: you can catch up on your shows, watch free movies
• Cons: videos are posted after a week, lots of options for just on show(blogs,vlogs, extended interviews, short clips, full episodes, previews)
• a competitor site would be ABCfamily.com

5.Mystyle.com

• I like that you can get tips on how to dress for a certain occasion
• to look up current trends, watch missed shows
• I would make it so that this site had videos out sooner
• Pros: current on fashion, fashion tips, can watch any shows you may have missed.
• Cons: videos are out late, it's hard to find the page you want to get to.
• A competitor site would be teenvogue.com because they both offer fashion advice.

About Megi

     I've been in America for 13 years now...I absolutely do not like it here. I'd rather leave, which is what I plan to do once I graduate. I'm from Albania, for those of you who don't know where that is, it's in the Mediterranean to the west of Greece. It's a small country, but I love the culture and the layout of the place. You could be in the highest mountain, and then in about a 4 or 5 hours drive away, you could be swimming in the sea. Anyway, more about me. I speak two languages(Albanian and English), and am working on learning my third(French). I plan to eventually know 4 to 5 languages(Italien and something else). I love fashion. I try to have the latest things, if I can afford them. That's why I love Europe so much. The latest fashions always come out in Europe 2 or 3 years before they come out here in America. With fashion, you can go as crazy as you want; there are some rules that do need to be followed so you don't look like a nut job(unless that's the look you're going for, otherwise...Kudos to you).

     I enjoy using grammer. I always correct people when they say something the wrong way. I'm not the all knowing grammatical wizard, but I am picky. I hate it when people try to insult some one and say they're ignant, ummm no you're IGNORANT for saying that word that way. Or when some one says I axed(asked) you a question...no thank you I don't want to be axed.  

P.S. blogs don't count for grammer. =p.
P.S.S. I've also been to Greece and Italy..gorgeous places.
